Pastoral Council Minutes

October 1, 2007

Attending: Rose Braun, Tate Cooper, Steve Gross, Father Mark Burger, Kathy Guenther, Jerry Koehne, Kevin Kohls, Brian Krause, Tom Kroger, Debbie Meinhardt, Claudia Miller, Cindy Muron, Ann Perry, Ray Sousa, Barb Utrata, and Mary Ann Lampe (scribe).

Preliminaries: The meeting opened with the Pastoral Council Prayer at 7:00 pm. and reflection led by Barb Utrata.

Agenda Items:

1) Approval of Minutes from Sept. 4 meeting - all The minutes were reviewed and approved by all.

2) Pastoral Associate - Kathy Guenther

a) Overview of Activities and Current Topics Kathy provided an outline of the many educational programs she oversees. She can always use volunteers to help with Generations of Faith scheduled for October 22 & 23 to help with greeting, clean up, etc. The Loreto is an alternative to the classroom setting. We usually have about 200 students sign up each year. The children attend 2 weeks for 3 ½ hours each day with 3 follow-ups throughout the year.

b) Issues/Needs/Challenges Encouraging adults to come to things. Finding a week to get good attendance and recruiting enough volunteers to staff vacation bible school is always a difficulty. We do Generations of Faith to bring families together for dinner.

c) Feedback How many children attend? About 700 this year in PSR including Home Study and about 200 in the Loreto model.

3) An Interactive Activity - All At the last meeting Rose had a request for Pastoral Council members to get to know each other better. To accomplish this, Rose asked questions to be responded to by each member present. Members responded positively to this exercise.

4) Fr. Mark’s Comments - The Syro -Malabar Catholics are meeting here once a month. The Tanzania Promise has kicked off and Jerry already has 70 volunteers to help. The Archbishop has asked for a coadjutor to be appointed since he will be retiring in the near future.

Rose asked for volunteers to lead prayers of thanksgiving at the close of future Pastoral Council meetings as requested by the Archdiocese. November - Cindy Muron; December - Ann Perry; January - Kevin Kohls.

5) Adjournment and Closing Prayer of Thanksgiving We adjourned with a prayer at 8:20 pm.
