"CRHP" began as a "renewal" weekend at Holy Family Parish in Cleveland in 1969. The members at Holy Family found the enthusiasm and positive response to this initial weekend overwhelming. The program exposed participants to the effectiveness of shared ministry and motivated them to build a Christian community that understood that Jesus Christ was its center.
During the 1970's, news of "CRHP's" success at Holy Family motivated other parishes throughout the Cleveland Diocese to adopt the program. Through the 1980's and 90's "CRHP" spread to 750 parishes in 62 dioceses across 27 states and received the recommendation of the renewal office of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops. Today, "CRHP" continues to promote the development of vibrant faith communities and full service parishes by transforming the hearts of committed believers.
Fr. Ray Favret brought the CRHP process to our parish and held the first retreat weekend in 1992. The CRHP process was his passion and the parishioners at St. John greeted the process with equal enthusiasm. He personally led all the Men's teams through the CRHP process and worked closely with all the the leaders of the Women's teams, guiding all with the gentle hand of God and helping countless people find their way to a new deeper relationship with God. Since the program began here, St. John's has also gifted the program to many other churches both local to this area like St. Susana's and St. Max and those outside the Cincinnati area. Although Fr. Ray is now with our heavenly Father, the CRHP process is continuing strong with the same enthusiasm. To date, St. John's has held over 60 retreat weekends with new womens / teams forming all the time. See our registration web page for the next retreat date.
