We had our most productive meeting in many months leading to the launch of the new web site. The new web site is administered via Drupal. Drupal is a content management tool that will allow the parish organization and staff to post their own content. Also Drupal has functionality being added all of the time. Future improvements can be made via Drupal modules.

We welcomed Cathy Stamper to the committee. We look forward to her insight for improving the web site.

Steve mentioned that he spoke to Ken Krusling from the Festival committee and he would like a volunteer signup page for the festival. He has a friend experienced in web development that is supposed to contact about doing this work.

Brett did a great job of making many changes to the web site and demonstrating how to make those changes. To make the changes, the Administer Views, Blocks, and Menus are used. We fixed the problems with News and Notes (there was an extra filters preventing items from being seen). The home page was revamped using blocks. News and Notes are now on the home page on the right side of the page. The mass schedule is now just on the home page. We changed Contacting St. John’s to Contact Us and put a link on the main menu. The mass schedule is now just on the home page.

There were some issues with publishing these minutes. A couple of times text entered directly disappeared after submitting the page. For now, it might be prudent to write the text in Word and paste it into the web site.

Debbie needs to add Cathy to the web committee email list. She also needs to delete the test News and Notes items and publish a new one introducing the new web site.

Dan needs to make sure the Calendar, Bulletin, etc are up to date. He'll also need to work with Fr. Linh and Michael Daley to update their pages. He'll update the pastoral council page too. We need to put an item in the bulletin mentioning the new web site.

Cathy mentioned that we should consider adding a job search forum. She'll provide info from other parish web sites.

Launching the new web site is major milestone. Thanks for everyone's great work to make this happen. We should be ready to start working on improvement to the web site for the future.
